GROCERY PACKAGING

The goal of this project was to evaluate the culture of a grocery and create a new system of packaging to improve the experience of the consumer. The packing that has been designed here is for Food Lion located in North Carolina. Their mission is to be easy, fresh, and affordable. Unfortunately the current packaging is bland and does not use recyclable materials. For the new design, brown paper and recyclable plastic has been used. The concepts of affordability, transparency, and accountability were critical in the creation process.

Transparency is the buzzword of current corporate consumerism and was implemented literally in this design. Food Lion wants its customers to be healthy and fresh, and holding them accountable for their purchases is a way to help them along. The larger grocery bag and produce bag have been designed with transparent windows to hold the consumer accountable for the types of food they purchase and carry out of the store.
